Today I got up close and personal with horses and if you have never worked with these majestic animals before, you may agree that their sheer size is intimidating. And then add into the mix the fact that they have different personalities and you have to adapt to them and not the other way round! I could choose which horse I wanted to engage and I went for a fellow named Nexus…big, beautiful and super- extroverted! He’s an in-your-face type of character, exactly the sort of ‘person’ who completely overwhelms the introvert that I am. But it’s precisely because of the contrast in our personalities that made me want to connect with him. It was not a natural response on my part (normally I run a mile away from extroverts ?) but a deliberate decision to take the risk and to walk toward becoming a more courageous person. I stepped into my fear and I was humbled by the experience. What an amazing gift this was! #Courage #DoItAfraid #WhatAStud #Stallion #LookFearInTheEye

By the time you read these lines I’ll be gone… To a place that I never thought I would be at without the help of you and your incredible team and that includes those beautiful horses in your family. But let me enlighten you as to why the few days of orientation were so beneficial to me. Leadership through horses. When I arrived at the site, I was taken aback by these magnificent creatures, in cruise control, being led around the area. I have seen tons of horses in my lifetime, but there was always a protective barrier between us that being the TV screen. Never in my life have I ever seen something so majestic and yet so intimidating.

This is my journey… A seemingly normal start to the day with a feeling of excitement, a question around what the 2 days will entail and the fear of the unknown. Having worked closely with horses growing up I never really considered that horses are a reflection of ourselves, have the ability to teach and guide us in our personal growth. My teacher, White Knight, for me the highlight of the day. The mix of emotions at this point became very clear in how White Knight reacted to me. The unknown then played a part in how exactly I will perform the join-up. I had a view in my mind of how this would work but executing on that initially was my challenge. A moment of silence, White Knight seemed to be responding to me, a sense of calm set in, Nikki providing me with some guidance the impossible now possible. White Knight and I, face to face. The feeling of unity followed by an overall sense of partnership. I was in the zone. We had successfully completed the first join-up of the day. My confidence soaring I lead White Knight around the ring. Accomplishment, achievement and recognition in my abilities now starting to become apparent.

“Such a life changing experience learning about myself from the horses. I can’t thank Nadine Jackson enough for facilitating the experience.”

“This was truly a mind blowing experience for me. I was nervous at first but when I allowed myself to be me, I was amazed at the outcomes. This is a highly recommendable experience for any person”

“Achieving union and feel while balancing leadership can be a  complex task.  Horses are sensitive animals that easily understand and assimilate the ‘whole being’ approach to relationships.

They invite us to blend and integrate the mind, body and spirit to create higher levels of harmony and connection”

“Mastering the art of knowing when to stay on-course, or change tactic if results are not forth coming – It’s easier said than done, however with allowing one an opportunity to “take time to reflect and have an external view” that can be achieved.”
